The story begins when Yuji Yamakawa, who has been dumped by his girlfriend and suffered constant power harassment at work and is fed up with everything, visits a rural town surrounded by nature.

My girlfriend dumped me. I'm constantly being bullied at work. I'm fed up with everything, so out of desperation, I, "Yuji Sankawa," have come to a strange land, barefoot. Mountains, rivers, and the sea. Kamifukucho is a peaceful rural town surrounded by nature. I thought I'd soothe my weary soul here, but... there's something strange about this town! The inn where I'm staying is run by a cute, speaking raccoon dog. What's more, there are even muscular cows walking on two legs on the roads nearby! It seems that in this town, monsters from a fantasy world and humans live in peace. This is the strange rural town where I began my free-spirited, slow-paced life.
