To commemorate the 40th anniversary of "City Hunter," the largest original art exhibition in the series' history, "City Hunter: Forever, City Hunter!!" (hereinafter referred to as "City Hunter: Forever Original Art Exhibition") will be held at the Ueno Royal Museum from Saturday, November 22, 2025 to Sunday, December 28, 2025. Based on the famous line from the series that expresses the bond between Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura, the exhibition's catchphrase is "City Hunter is about the two of us!!" This interactive exhibition will allow visitors to immerse themselves deeply in the world of City Hunter.
This exhibition, packed with City Hunter's charms, including hard-boiled gunfights, comical scenes, and the romance between Saeba and Kaori, features a total of seven chapters showcasing numerous original drawings that will immerse you in the world of the original manga. There are also immersive photo spots, such as the familiar "Message Board" from the series and "Cat's Eye Cafe," where you'll find a life-size figure of Ryo Saeba. Visitors can also fully experience the charm of the series through a special movie that shows the final scene accompanied by TM NETWORK's classic song "Get Wild."
Additionally, the exhibition will offer an original audio guide by the voice actors of the City Hunter anime, Akira Kamiya (Ryo Saeba), Kazue Ikura (Kaori Makimura), and Tesshō Genda (Umibozu). Enjoy the original art exhibition along with commentary that can only be heard at the venue.
The journey of Ryo and Kaori revealed in 7 chapters
This exhibition is divided into seven chapters and follows the journey of City Hunter characters Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura, from their fateful meeting, to the trust they built with their unique colleagues and clients, and how Ryo and Kaori came to recognize each other as irreplaceable partners.
① Prologue
A 100-ton hammer is on display at the entrance, and you can actually lift it and take photos. After passing through the streets of Shinjuku, you will come to the message board at the east exit of Shinjuku Station where the "client" wrote "XYZ," where Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura will invite you into the world of "City Hunter."
②Fateful Encounter
The exhibition will feature early original drawings depicting the fateful meeting between Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura, the death of his former partner Hideyuki Makimura, and his encounters with his unique companions. There will also be a photo spot in the shooting range in the basement of Saeba's apartment where you can take photos standing next to the two characters.
③The password is XYZ
Ryo and Kaori's "Everyday Life" is a fusion of hard-boiled and comedy. This area introduces the charming beauties and requests that appear in "City Hunter." Inside the Cat's Eye cafe run by Umibozu, you'll be greeted by a life-size Ryo Saeba!
④The two of them grow closer
In the area of "Urban Cinderella," a popular episode that always ranks highly in popularity polls, you will find yourself in a fantastical space that makes you feel as if you are in a scene from the work. The original illustration will take you to the world of "The Duel at the Graveyard," a scene in which Ryo and Umibozu, who were once mercenaries, confront each other...!
⑤We are City Hunters
"City Hunter!! It's the duo of us!!"
This section, which is also the exhibition's catchphrase, is an area featuring original drawings that convey the bond between Ryo and Kaori, as well as snapshots of the frontispieces that evoke the 1980s. There will also be photo spots such as "Kiss Through the Glass."

Ryo and Kaori, their bond will last forever.
We are finally entering the climax area. In the special theater, a special movie will be screened showing the final scene accompanied by TM NETWORK's famous song "Get Wild."
⑦Epilogue
The exhibition will feature precious original drawings from the anime, merchandise, and novelizations, as well as new original drawings created specifically for this exhibition and the 40th anniversary project, and congratulatory cards from manga artists and other artists associated with the series. 40 years of "City Hunter," beloved by many fans, will be gathered here.
The voice actors for Ryo, Kaori, and Umibozu have all come together! Fans will be delighted to hear the dream audio guide come true!
To help fans immerse themselves in the world of the series, the exhibition will also feature an audio guide provided by a star-studded cast of voice actors. Akira Kamiya, who voices Ryo Saeba, Kazue Ikura, who voices Kaori Makimura, and Tesshō Genda, who voices Umibozu, will provide commentary on the exhibits.
